I was a HostZealot customer from late September to November 2026, with several KVM-NVMe VPS in Warsaw, Amsterdam and London. My users are in Russia. I
... am updating my earlier positive review after this experience.
What happened:
- The IP addresses of my VPS kept becoming unreachable from Russia, usually within 1-3 days. Every time support answered that blocking in Russia is outside their control and that a new IP is a paid service.
- So I paid for IP changes again and again: at least four times at EUR 4-4.50 each, plus EUR 5 for a location change, on top of the server rent.
- Several "new" addresses were already blocked at the moment I received them. My last paid swap (1 November) gave an address that did not work from the very first minute. I asked for a working address instead, without a second charge. Support refused and asked me to pay again.
- During the location change my old server was deleted before I confirmed I was ready, although I had asked them to wait. Data written after my last backup was lost.
- On the new server support had added nine staff SSH keys to root's authorized_keys without asking me.
Pros: tickets are answered quickly and politely; once (24 October) they replaced two bad IPs for free.
Cons: servers don't live, every IP change is paid, and a dead address you paid for is your loss.
I did not renew. Not recommended, especially if your users are in Russia or the CIS.
